Safety

Our commitment to quality doesn’t just stop at beauty. Our commitment to producing the best quality nail products for our fashion-forward fan base extends to every aspect of safety when it comes to our products. Your safety is our top priority, and it’s a job we’re committed to doing well.
In addition to being an environmentally-friendly brand, Wild&Mild promises to keep the following products out of our nail polishes.

Wild&Mild nail polishes DO NOT Contain The Following Harmful Ingredients:

DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate)
DBP, or dibutyl phthalate, is a common nail polish ingredient used to keep the polish from breaking and chipping. While that might seem like a good thing on the surface, it has unfortunately been linked to a host of issues in the reproductive system, including congenital disabilities.

Camphor
Camphor is another harmful ingredient commonly found in nail polishes. Camphor often serves as a plasticizer, which helps the nail polish adhere to your nails. It also prevents chipping and outside of nail care, has been used by insect enthusiasts and organizations to preserve specimens. Camphor has also been linked to seizures and irritability, things we’d prefer not to put on our customers.

Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde (yes the stuff used to preserve dead people), is an ingredient also commonly found in nail care products. Formaldehyde has been classified as a carcinogen. That means that not only is this chemical strong enough to prevent natural biological decay, it can also cause cancer and skin irritation in those who are exposed to it.

Formaldehyde Resin
We love a stylish, solid nail as much as the next girl, but not at the expense of harsh skin irritation. Like regular formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin can irritate the skin and respiratory system if inhaled. The ingredient is used to harden the polish allowing it to last, but we’ve found that there are other ways to get a crisp, clean nail without the use of formaldehyde-based poisons.

Lead
Lead is one of the least-disclosed and dangerous secrets of the nail polish industry. There have been warnings about the dangers of lead in their homes like the kind that has been found in wall paint or even in children’s toys. Naturally, nail polish is no exception, and lead should be avoided just as much for its overall harmful influence on the respiratory system.

Parabens
Parabens, like formaldehyde, are notorious for their possible link to breast cancer and other kinds of diseases and so, has often been classified as a carcinogen. Parabens have commonly been used as a preservative in beauty products like nail polish. However, they can also block nutrient absorption leaving your nails cracked, brittle, and devoid of the healthy nutrients they need.

Toluene
Toluene is a solvent used to maintain the consistency of nail polish products. However, this harmful chemical has also been found to cause congenital disabilities. Toluene has also been associated with general symptoms of discomfort, including headaches, dizziness, and even fatigue, which is why we’ve opted to never it in any of our Wild&Mild nail products.

Xylene
Xylene is a chemical that releases vapours that irritate everything from your eyes to your skin. Xylene carries a distinct odour that’s neither pleasant nor healthy to inhale. It has been linked to headaches and even dizziness in its users and has a possible link to liver and kidney damage. This chemical is an overall health hazard making it a hard “no” for us.

Wild&Mild Cares

Unfortunately, other brands in the nail beauty industry often choose to fill their products with toxins and harsh chemicals that are cheap to produce and easy to sneak into their nail polishes. That’s not the way we operate here.
At Wild&Mild, we know it’s not enough for the product to look good. It has to be good. After all, we take your trust seriously, and your body will always deserve the best.

Thank you for choosing Wild&Mild. We can’t wait to see what we colour for you next.
